Meet The Captain

My name is Rob Salimbene and I am coast guard licensed and certified captain.  I grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where most of my early fishing was done on trout streams and Lake Erie.  My love for fishing was developed through many fishing trips with my Grandfather, who was kind enough to pass on his love of fishing to me.  My    saltwater experience was honed fishing the offshore waters of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina for dolphin, tuna, wahoo, and more.  I moved to Florida to further my education and truly fell in love with the state and the fishing possibilities.  I feel that in the United States there is no better inshore saltwater fishing than right here in Florida.  Growing up I always dreamed of becoming a fishing guide so with every passing day I feel I am truly living a dream.

Tampa Bay Fishing Going Strong!!!

Been pretty busy lately getting my new boat and all, but fishing around the bay is going pretty strong. The snook are in their usual winter haunts, and the redfish are schooling up in large numbers all over the bay. Along the south shore, look for schools of redfish along the mangrove edges at high tide and on the outside flats as the tide falls. A DOA jerkbait rigged weedless, or a Mirrodine will usually trigger a nasty strike. Snook have been hitting well early and late on bone colored topwaters. Work the baits around mangrove points and creek mouths for consistent action. Trout have been around in great numbers, but keeper sized fish are few and far between. If your willing to weed through the smaller fish, keeper limits can be had. All in all the weather is cooling off and the fishing is heating up, so get out there and wet a line.
